This is a trip for those wanting to step back in time
Situated on the Tibetan plateau the capital of Ladakh, Leh (3505m), is also known as little Tibet. We start our journey here and travel to the 1,000-year-old monastery of Hemis.
Take your time to explore these ancient Buddhist Gonpas (temples), amble around the market. Search for a bargain in one of the many curio shops.
Take in the sights and sounds or just interact with the locals. Visit a Tibetan doctor, or explore the sensation of an aryuvedic massage. We will have the opportunity to experience classic Tibetan culture, up close and personal. Each year at this time the monks of Hemis Monastery perform chaam. This sacred dance signifies the illusory nature of life and is an experience you will never forget.
We will be the guests of the monastery. An experience you will never forget.
Then travel through to the South East to the hot springs of Chumanthang. From here we move up and then across to Tso Moriri and Korzok where with luck we can stay in the Gonpa there and take time to explore this Turquoise blue lake situated at an altitude above 4,500m. Then we loop back and head to the capital Leh via Lachung La one of the highest motorable roads in the world.
